Marcia Griffiths Marcia Griffiths Ready to Go Another 40 Years
Marcia Griffiths celebrates her 40th anniversary in the business at the Hilton Kinston Hotel. The Reggae superstar was very candid with the ftar-studded room full of fans and peers to celebrate her triumph.

"I have sinned," she announced, "if it's a sin to feel this good, I have sinned," the reigning Empress of Reggae said at the launch of a year-long series of festivities to mark her 40th year in the music business.

The launch, which was more of a thanksgiving ceremony, was attended by the who's who of Jamaican entertainment, including Bob Marley's mother, Cedella Booker, former I-Three member Judy Mowatt, sax great Dean Fraser, storyteller Amina Blackwood-Meeks, leader of the Opposition Edward Seaga, and songbird Nadine Sutherland, all of whom delivered touching tributes to the most prolific woman in Reggae music today.

All sectors of the industry were represented, and singers Tony Rebel, dancehall 'Fireman' Capleton, dancer L'Antoinette Stines, filmmaker Barbara Blake Hannah, sound system operator Bunny Goodison, Jamaica Federation of Musicians president Desi Young, percussionist Bongo Herman, and producers Donovan Germain and Sonia Pottinger were some of the famous faces spotted.

"I'm going another 40 years! Yes! Listen out for me," she said. Look out for Marcia performing with Beres Hammond and Maxi Priest in Atlanta on May 22nd.

Black Kat Makes History

Panther makes a history-making performance at Jamaica’s World Clash (Death Before Dishonor). "A which part dem a go send mi fi go clash now?" chuckled all-conquering selector Pink Panther. "No sound nu lef inna di business, a bare funeral! A muss Links alone left and Links a baby," he continued, laughing.

After this win Panther became the only sound system selector to walk away with all three World Clash titles back to back in one year. Panther came into the competition riding high off his most recent win at the UK Cup Clash.

"A long time mi inna di business, mi pay mi dues," he affirmed. "Nobody cyan go round my ting dem, mi nuh haffi spend no bag of money. Ah performance dweet."

Panther, ironically, cut the least amount of new tunes and one-off World Clash specials for the dance, yet walked away with the trophy once more.

"Mi put Matterhorn inna him place," said Panther. "Mi tell him him just know Bounty and when mi drop my 'who kill di most sound?' tune the place nuh good. You wait 'til you see the DVD."

Congratulations to Pink Panther on making history.

Sean Paul

Billboard's Still In Love With Sean Paul
Billboard is still in love with Sean Paul, as he still rides high on the charts with his classic remake of “I'm Still In Love With You.” The duo with him and Sasha is quietly creeping up the mainstream Billboard Hot 100. It has currently peaked at number 20 after 14 weeks on the chart.

The hit single leads the current dancehall billboard invasion as Beenie Man (number 65) and TOK (85) are hopefully gaining momentum.
