NICKY B
Living on a small island makes one open and vulnerable. No large spaces to shield you from outside influences. No canyons to echo your sound. So you sing your songs to the wind. Nicholas Bennet is young talented and vulnerable. Coming from a musical family, this teenaged island boy sings of sweetness and heartbreak. Being Jamaican, his music mixes the mystic sensuality of reggae, with the smooth foreplay like grooves of R&B and Jazz. He is a graduate of Kingston College, one of the leading high schools in Jamaica with a rich history and strong tradition in Jamaica’s popular and classical music movements.
Passionate about making great music, ‘Nicky’ writes most of his material. He has written for Jamaican acts like ‘Ghost’ and one of his songs was considered for an LL Cool J project. No stranger to the stage or the recording studio, he has done backing vocals for several popular Jamaican recordings.
He has worked as a back-up vocalist on stage in addition to his featured performances and he has co-produced some recordings, working with his father, noted songwriter and producer Mikey Bennet as well as other prominent Jamaican producers. Counted among his influences are the old school sounds of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Patti LaBelle, and Gladys Knight along with new school artists like Craig David, Usher and Alicia Keyes. Nicholas Bennet is singing in the island breezes; the world will hear, feel, cry, and laugh with him on his musical pilgrimage.
